5 Reasons Why Families Love Vacationing in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is 60 miles of beautiful beaches and Southern charm.  We recently visited and I can see why families love vacationing there!

Below are some ideas for when you visit, along with side notes and links for more information.

What better place to spend some quality family outdoor time than at Myrtle Beach’s Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade.

Myrtle Beach Pier

As you walk along the 1.2 mile boardwalk you can enjoy a variety of different attractions. One section focuses on nature and the serenity of the beach environment. The other half is super fun, with shops, restaurants and, of course, the Grand Strand’s 200-foot SkyWheel!

We ate at Landshark, home of their lager beer.  There was something for everyone on the menu.  I especially enjoyed the tuna poke bowl!

Nature is practically everywhere you turn! Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy one of the many beautiful parks such as Myrtle Beach State Park or Huntington Beach State Park.

Myrtle Beach Ripley's

We never miss an aquarium when we travel, so Ripley’s Aquarium was a must-see while in Myrtle. We visited the one in Tennessee and this one was just as exciting!

Opt for the tour of your choice at Myrtle Beach Safari – wild encounters tour, trip to the preservation station (free!), or the all-new night safari.   You’ll encounter tigers, elephants, cheetahs, along with other beautiful animals (even a liger!).

Looking to stay waterside, there’s always amazing fishing, banana boat rides, and dolphin tours!

There are countless activities to choose from if you’re in the mood for some adventure! Below are just a few to choose from – be sure to check Groupon or the actual website for available discounts.

Whether it is the heat or the rain, weather can impact your initial plans. Myrtle Beach has you covered!

  • The Simpsons in 4D was SO cool.
  • Wonderworks
  • Backstage Escape Games – Escape Rooms have been all the rage!  Each one usually has different themes for their rooms, so there’s something for everyone.  Be sure to check beforehand if you have younger ones joining you…make sure the rooms are age-appropriate.
  • Medieval Times is a blast. We first went with the boys in Orlando, FL and I loved watching them root for their knight. The 2 hour live show, 4 course feast, sword fighting and jousting made for a super exciting evening! Note: if your child is a bit of a picky eater, you may want to feed them beforehand.

Have you ever visited Myrtle Beach?  If so, where have you gone that you’d recommend?
